From Good to Better!

Welcome to my website. A place where I can share my thoughts and goals with everyone in the community and give you an Idea of, Who I am, What I stand for and help you decide, how best to cast your vote on October 25th, 2010.

My name is Gino De Buono and I am running for the office of York Catholic School Board Trustee in Ward 1 which includes Maple, Kleinburg and parts of Concord Ontario. I am not running to become a polished politician but to be the community's representative at the school board to voice Our concerns and put Our children first! I like you have children that currently or recently have been in our community's schools

Over the past few weeks I've been meeting many of you in the community. I have found that our community consists of many concerned and caring neighbours. We have spoken and discussed many issues some of which I was unaware and I have found are concerns shared by many. I have added these concerns to my priorities as part of myto do list.

Top 2 on the list of concerns I will look into because of health and safety reasons (see priority 1)

School Transportation. I believe that siblings should NOT be separated, where one walks and one rides.

Children shouldn't have to be afraid to use the bathroom facilities.

There is a mood for change, a change for the better !

Priority #1

"A Safe Learning Environment for Our Children"

Budgeting

Doing more with less, is not the answer. We need to do, what needs to be done with what we have. We need to set our priorities and goals and using innovative thinking and collaborative discussions. I have led many small to large projects and have many times found ways to succeed in reaching the desired goals under budget. Not by cutting out functionality, wages or usability but by thinking out the problem and finding a better way to solve it.

An empowering of parents through their school councils. Empowering the school councils by increasing their mandate through the electoral process. Enhancing the electoral process through communication, commitment and involvement of the community.

Technology as a collaborative learning tool

Using our internet/extranet infrastructure we can add far more learning and sharing of knowledge that will not only Increase the ability of real collaborative learning but give our students and teachers a central learning repository. Students could add notes and thoughts from the curriculum gaining community hours . This information through secured access would build a resource that would increase each year as more and more is added. This can be implemented with minimal cost at both the High School and Elementary school level.

We as a community need to provide our children, the Skills, Knowledge and Guidance, Not only so that they can earn a living, but Make A Life.

Let's Talk, Because Our Children Deserve Better!
